1. What is your budget?
One of the first things you need to consider is what you can afford. It’s very important to not spend all your money on a GPU and skip on the CPU. Without both, your gaming pc won’t perform as well.
2. Consider your monitor resolution and refresh rate
If you have a gaming monitor with 1080p resolution at 30-60fps, you can go for a standard GTX 1650 or one of the previous generation models. If, however, you need resolutions near 4K, a high-end graphics card will be required. For this reason, it’s best to pair your screen to your Nvidia GeForce GTX 1650.
You also need to consider your refresh rate. For screens with triple-digit refresh rates, you’ll require a card that can process the demand to reach its full potential. Alternatively, if your screen tops at 60Hz and 1080p there’s no point to pay extra on a powerful card.
3. Do you have enough space and power?
How does your system compare with your new card? It would be a great idea to measure your pc box before upgrading. You need to make sure all components will fit before you buy. You’ll notice that card sizes may differ between present and previous version cards. You’ll also notice a brand difference between Asus, MSI or Gigabyte for instance and prices can also make a difference.
On top of that, you also need to consider your power supply. Check the watts your power supply is rated for and how many amps it can supply on the 12V rails. Also, check how many six and eight-pin PCIe connectors it has. Check the same for the card you want to buy. If your pc can’t handle the new card, you will need to choose a card that requires less power or upgrade your current power supply.
4. Check the specs
It’s very important to know what product specifications you’re looking for. If you have a mediocre system at best, you might not need the most powerful Asus or Nvidia GeForce GTX 1650 out there. In comparison, if you have a monster system, you should go for the best version of the Nvidia GeForce GTX 1650 you can find. So which specs are important?
● Graphics card memory amount
It’s important to get a card with at least 6GB of memory. 8GB memory is better if you want to play games. Take note, if you game with a very high resolution around 4k, you’ll need more than 8GB of memory for the system to perform well.
● Form factor
Check the length, width and height of the card. You need to make sure it will fit in your pc case along with all the other components.
● TDP
Thermal design power (TDP) tells you the measurement of heat dissipation, but it also gives you an indication of how many watts you’ll require to run the GPU.
● Power connectors
Serious Nvidia GeForce GTX 1650 game cards require more than 75W. This means you’ll need supplementary power connectors to meet the power need.
● Ports
Make sure the GeForce GTX 1650 you plan to buy has the ports required to connect your screen.
● Clock speed
Some GPU cards overclock better than others, but in most cases cooling trumps overclocking. Check the fans and airflow of the GPU to determine if the overclocking feature is worth it.
● Memory speed / bandwidth
Finally, consider memory. Cards with lots of memory tend to be faster than those without, but memory isn’t the only thing that determines speed so make sure to also check the cache rate.
5. Check the MSRP
It’s important to check the launch prices of any stock you’re considering. This can help you to separate the real deals from the fake mark up then discount offerings. Also, avoid the duel cards, they aren’t worth it.
